Hi,

You need a DTD for entities. You can have something like below for instance:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE root [
  <!ENTITY copy "sample">
]>
<root>
     <test>this is the test &copy; node</test>
</root>
