Yes you are correct I am not actually using the element contained in the
extensions.xsd file.  One of the validation checkers I have actually
states that the schema is invalid with the 'items declared more than
once' type of error even if we do make use of an item in extensions.xsd.

One of the validation checkers appears to have problems with the fact
that extensions.xsd is importing main.xsd and that we are redefining it
also in the plug-in.xsd file, therefore bringing in two definitions of
what I am redefining i.e. one by redefinition and one by an indirect
import.
